As the UK pauses to mark Remembrance Day 2025, Stephen Bradley, Deputy Head of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at Nationwide Platforms, took a leading role in this year’s National Service of Remembrance Parade. He guided hundreds of service members and veterans through Lewisham to the Lewisham War Memorial on Sunday, 9th November.
Stephen Bradley’s Role in the Parade
Stephen participated as a senior warrant officer, describing it as one of the proudest moments in his 35-year military career.
“I usually take part in the Remembrance Parade, but to lead it this year was a huge honor,” Stephen said. “Having lost family members and friends who served, Remembrance Day is very meaningful to me. It’s a time to remember World War I, all other wars, and the sacrifices made by soldiers and citizens both at home and abroad.”
He also reflected on his grandparents’ experiences during World War II, adding that his own military service gave him a deeper understanding of their hardships.
Military Background
Stephen joined the Army in 1990 at the age of 16 through an apprenticeship, inspired by his grandfather, who served as a sniper during WWII. He served over three decades in the Armed Forces and remains active in the Army Reserves as a Squadron Sergeant Major.
Earlier in 2025, Stephen also represented his regiment in the Lady Mayor’s Show before participating in the national parade.
Civilian Career and Leadership
Alongside his military career, Stephen built a successful civilian career in health and safety leadership. He gained his qualifications through military resettlement programmes and joined Nationwide Platforms, where he now serves as Deputy Head of Health, Safety, and Environment.
“Transitioning from the military can be challenging,” Stephen said. “Nationwide Platforms has always supported my involvement in the reserves. I constantly apply what I’ve learned from both careers and have strong relationships with all our depots.”
Karen Maguire, HR Director at Nationwide Platforms, praised Stephen’s leadership:
“Stephen’s achievement is a tremendous source of pride for everyone at Nationwide Platforms. His leadership at the national parade reflects the discipline, professionalism, and sense of duty he brings to work every day.”
