The Bowls Club Returns to Finsbury Square in the City of London This Summer

The Bowls Club is returning to Finsbury Square this summer, bringing lawn bowls, street food, DJs and outdoor drinks back to the City of London from 10 June to 30 July 2026.

The popular summer event — which has attracted more than 100,000 visitors since launching — combines social lawn bowls with live entertainment, food and group experiences in one of central London’s most unique outdoor venues.

What Is The Bowls Club?

The Bowls Club was founded by Chris Scriven and Will Goy, who saw the game fading from British life and wanted to bring it back — not as a museum piece, but as something fast, social and genuinely fun. Their inspiration came partly from observing how young Australians approach lawn bowls in the country that has arguably kept the game most alive — relaxed, competitive and thoroughly social.

The venue features 12 lawn bowls rinks, two bars, and a BBQ, accommodating groups of between 10 and 750 people across each date. Games are hosted by expert Game Masters — professional entertainers whose job is to keep things moving, explain the rules to beginners, raise the competitive temperature at the right moments, and ensure nobody feels left out. You do not need to know anything about bowls to enjoy it. Most people who come have never played before.

The partnership with Bowls England keeps the game authentic even as the format evolves, ensuring that what is being played is genuinely connected to the sport’s heritage rather than a completely invented alternative.

Food, Drink and Entertainment

Food at The Bowls Club 2026 is provided by Social Pantry, with a menu designed for easy summer dining. Previous years have featured high-quality street food from a rotating selection of London vendors — the 2026 offering from Social Pantry, which has an established reputation for event catering across the capital, continues that standard.

The drinks programme is built for summer: cocktails, cold beers, wine, prosecco, spirits and soft drinks all available throughout the session. Multiple packages are available depending on group size and preference, with drinks included in most group booking options.

Entertainment runs throughout each date. DJs and street magicians are scheduled across dates, alongside live music on selected evenings, creating what the founders describe as a laid-back festival atmosphere that builds as the evening progresses. The venue stays open until 10:30pm, which means the entertainment dimension is as central to the experience as the sport itself.

Tickets, Packages and How to Book

The Bowls Club offers three main group packages, all designed for groups of 10 or more:

Golden Bowls — includes 4 drinks per person, one street food voucher, 50 minutes of bowls and access to the venue with a reserved area.

The Bowled and the Beautiful — includes 6 drinks per person, street food voucher, 50 minutes of bowls, dedicated host with table service and a reserved area.

Great Bowls of Fire — includes a welcome summer cocktail, 6 drinks per person, street food voucher, 50 minutes of bowls, a premium exclusive area for three hours and dedicated host with table service.

Prices start from £105 plus VAT per person. Full private hire of the venue is also available for groups of 350 or more, with bespoke branding and production options.

Walk-ins are welcome for drinks, but bowling sessions must be booked in advance. With only 20 dates across June and July, popular evenings and weekends are expected to sell out quickly — particularly for the larger group packages.

About Finsbury Square

The venue is located at Finsbury Square Bowling Green, Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1RR — a genuinely lovely green space in the heart of the City of London, surrounded by the architecture of one of the world’s great financial districts. It is one of those locations that surprises people the first time they visit: quieter, greener and more characterful than the glass towers of the nearby streets suggest.

The nearest Underground station is Moorgate, which is served by the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, as well as the London Overground and National Rail. Old Street station (Northern line) is a short walk away. The location is well served by buses along City Road and Moorgate.

The Charity Connection

Over its four years in operation, The Bowls Club has raised over £46,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital — a cause that sits at the heart of the founders’ personal commitment to the project. A proportion of each event’s proceeds supports the hospital’s work with seriously ill children. For corporate groups booking summer parties, this adds a charitable dimension to what is already a strong team event proposition.

London’s Summer Events Calendar Is Filling Up Fast

If you are planning your summer events calendar, The Bowls Club sits alongside a strong lineup of London events through May and June. The St James’s Food Fair on 16 May — a free one-day food market in the heart of Westminster featuring some of London’s most celebrated restaurants, independent producers and live music — is one of the standout early-summer options for food lovers, and makes an excellent warm-up to the summer season before The Bowls Club opens in June.
