Union Chapel Project in North London has announced that Kathryn Dixon will take on the role of Interim Managing Director. She will lead the organisation while they prepare to hire a permanent Managing Director in 2026.
Union Chapel Project (UCP) was founded in 1991. It is a secular heritage and civic charity that works to protect, restore, and open the historic Union Chapel in Islington. The building includes Grade I and Grade II* listed areas, making it one of the most important heritage sites in the area. Today, Union Chapel serves as a centre for music, arts, culture, community work, and social projects.
Although the Union Chapel Congregational Church has its own charitable status, it remains an important part of the wider Union Chapel family.
Who Is Kathryn Dixon?
Kathryn Dixon has been connected to Union Chapel Project for many years. She has served as a Trustee since 2015, and she knows the organisation, its audience, and its partners extremely well. She is also a long-time member of the Friends of Union Chapel Committee.
Kathryn has more than 20 years of business experience. She has worked in executive management roles, leading diverse teams and focusing on fundraising, marketing, and client relations. Before her business career, she worked in the theatre, and she has always remained passionate about music and live performance.
Why This Appointment Matters
Ken Beech, Chair of Union Chapel Project, expressed strong support for Kathryn’s appointment. He highlighted that her leadership will be important as the organisation approaches a major milestone: the completion of the £3.2 million Sunday School Stories project.
This project will restore and upgrade the Sunday School Hall, allowing Union Chapel to expand both its cultural programmes and community activities.
Ken Beech praised Kathryn’s mix of business skills, deep knowledge of Union Chapel, and her personal connection to the performing arts.
Kathryn’s Vision for Union Chapel
In her statement, Kathryn said that Union Chapel is a place loved by many people for many different reasons—and she feels the same.
