London City Airport has launched its first direct service to Toulon on the French Riviera, with BA Cityflyer operating twice-weekly flights every Tuesday and Saturday from 23 May until 1 September 2026. Fares start from £90 each way including taxes and a hand baggage allowance.
The route is the only direct connection between London and Toulon currently operating. Toulon–Hyères Airport sits roughly 30 miles from St Tropez — making it the closest commercial airport to one of Europe’s most popular summer destinations. Until late 2024, easyJet operated a Gatwick–Toulon service before pulling it. UK-Toulon air service has now returned after an 18-month gap.
What the Route Offers
Toulon Saint-Tropez is BA Cityflyer’s fourth French destination, joining Nice, Bergerac and Chambéry. It is operated using Embraer 190 aircraft, the same fleet BA Cityflyer uses across its London City network.
For travellers, London City’s operational model is part of the appeal. The airport offers access to central London in 22 minutes by the Elizabeth line, and a kerbside-to-airside process of under 15 minutes — considerably faster than Gatwick or Heathrow for most passengers. The single terminal and compact footprint mean shorter queues and less time in the building.
From Toulon–Hyères, the French Riviera opens up. St Tropez is around 30 miles away. Hyères itself sits on the coast with direct access to the Îles d’Or — the Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant islands. The wider Var département takes in Bandol, Sanary-sur-Mer and the Calanques coastline.
How It Fits Into BA Cityflyer’s Broader Direction
BA Cityflyer has been steadily increasing the number of leisure destinations it serves. Its focus on weekdays is the business traveller, but at weekends it must find a use for its 20 aircraft. The Toulon route — operating Tuesdays and Saturdays — fits that pattern directly.
Alongside Toulon, BA Cityflyer launched London City–Olbia (Sardinia) in May, and next summer will also operate Stansted–Olbia on Saturdays and Sundays from 23 May to 27 September. A Glasgow–San Sebastián service also launched this summer. Together, these additions bring BA Cityflyer’s European network to nearly 30 destinations — a significant expansion for a regional carrier that was largely built around business routes.
